Is there a free e-waste drop-off in Brisbane?

Who takes the old fridge when a new one is delivered?
Many retailers will, usually for a small fee added at checkout or on delivery, and it is the easiest route if you are replacing the appliance anyway. Ask when you buy rather than on the day. Confirm the old unit goes to a recycler that degasses it rather than to a tip, and get that in writing on the order.
Does a fridge need to be degassed?
Yes. Fridges and air conditioners hold refrigerant gas that must be recovered by someone licensed before the unit is scrapped. Council resource recovery centres and legitimate recyclers do this as a matter of course. Do not let an unlicensed scrap collector take a fridge or a split system off your hands, whatever they offer for it.
What do I do with batteries and battery-powered devices?
Never a kerbside bin. The Queensland Government's instruction is direct: batteries and battery-operated devices do not go in your waste or recycling bins, because compaction or puncturing starts fires and emits toxic gases. Use a B-cycle drop-off point, including participating Coles, Woolworths, Aldi and Bunnings stores, or a council drop-off point.
