Green waste removal in Darwin
In Darwin, green waste is a council service, and what is offered differs across the Northern Territory. Ask your council or transfer station whether it takes garden waste separately, and what it charges. A neighbour with chickens will take clean scraps. Paid removal cuts and loads it in an afternoon.

Is there a green waste collection in Darwin?
That depends on your council. The Northern Territory publishes no Territory-wide green waste or verge collection program, and kerbside collection is a council service that is not provided everywhere in the Territory. Ring your council and ask what it runs, when, and what it accepts. Do not assume the service your last suburb had follows you.
Can garden waste go in the general bin in the NT?
That is a council question, and the answer differs across the Territory. Small amounts of garden waste usually go in whatever general waste bin your council collects. A whole hedge, a felled tree, stumps or soil will not fit and should not be forced in. Those go to a transfer station or a paid removal.
What should I check before a tip run in the NT?
Each site sets its own fees and its own rules for clean loads, and none of that is published Territory-wide, so ring your transfer station before you drive. Keep the load clean and sorted, with no household rubbish through it. Ask about branch size limits and whether soil and stumps are accepted.
Is paid green waste removal worth it?
For a big job in the build-up, yes. A crew will cut, chip and load in an afternoon what would take you a weekend and three trailer runs, and they take the disposal off your hands. For a small pile, wait and do it yourself. Get a quote that includes disposal, and ask whether they chip on site.
