In the Northern Territory, kerbside lids are general (General waste bin) and recycling (Recycling bin). E-waste goes to a drop-off point, never a kerbside bin. Drink containers earn 10c through the NT container deposit scheme since 2012. No soft-plastics scheme operates in the NT, so soft plastics go in the general waste bin. Household chemicals go through your council.

Container refund the NT container deposit scheme · 10c Running since 2012. Since 1 July 2026 the scheme covers all beverage containers of 3 litres or less, including wine and spirit bottles and plain milk, long life included. Before that date it covered beer, soft drink and juice-based containers of 3 litres or less plus a limited range of containers of one litre or less.
