In New South Wales, kerbside lids are red (garbage), yellow (recycling) and green (organics). E-waste goes to a drop-off point, never a kerbside bin. Drink containers earn 10c through Return and Earn since Dec 2017. Some NSW supermarkets host a soft-plastics bin; check before you drive. Container refund Return and Earn · 10c Running since Dec 2017. Most aluminium, glass, plastic and carton drink containers between 150ml and 3 litres. Wine bottles, spirit bottles, plain milk, cordial, health tonics, pure juice over 1L and casks stay out until the scheme expands from mid-2027 to take wine and spirit bottles and larger containers. Household chemicals Community Recycling Centres and Household Chemical CleanOut More than 100 permanent free drop-offs for paint, oils, batteries, gas bottles, smoke detectors, fire extinguishers and fluoro tubes, plus mobile CleanOut events on set dates for household chemicals.
Verge collections Council by council Most NSW councils run a bulky household clean-up, 75 of them at the 2024-25 EPA count. Whether it is booked or scheduled, and how many collections a household gets, is set by each council. Check your council for current dates.
