What size skip do I need?
Smaller than you think, once you sort first. Drink containers earn a refund, televisions and computers go free to the national recycling scheme, and paint goes to Paintback, so pulling those out of the pile often drops you a size. Skips are quoted in cubic metres, and a standard box trailer holds roughly one, which is a useful way to picture it.
What can't go in a skip bin?
It varies by operator, but mattresses, tyres, paint, chemicals, gas bottles, asbestos and e-waste are commonly refused from a general waste skip or charged as a surcharge.
